More than you ever wanted to know about Sunshine and Mike!
TIMELINE OF THE ADVENTURES OF SUNSHINE AND MIKE 1996-PRESENT
- April 1996 Sunshine and Mike meet in Ved Niketan ashram in Rishikesh. They skip classes and walk through the hills together instead. Mike serenades Sunshine with his acoustic guitar; they sing Satsangs and 60s folk tunes with other freaks at the ashram.
- Sunshine and Mike want to go to Dharamsala and visit the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan community in exile
- Sunshine and Mike stop in Amritsar to see the Golden Temple.
 That's a picture of Sunshine at the Golden Temple.
- Enchanted, they proceed to Dharamsala. They share a hotel room for a month before sleeping together, breaking a No-Sex World Record.
- Sunshine and Mike go camping in a mountain cave under the full moon and find a ramen noodle shop on the top of a crag. Unfortunately we didn't bring a camera.
- Sunshine and Mike rent a little apartment in an Indian farmer's house, get a stove, and get entrenched in McLeod Ganj. Sunshine gets Hepatitis A and turns yellow after weeks of hellish nausea.
 Mike takes great care of her and so does Yeshe Dhonden, premier Tibetan doctor and personal physician to the Dalai Lama
- July 1996 Sunshine's Indian tourist visa expires. Mike's doesn't. Mike takes Sunshine to Delhi, where he kisses her goodbye. Sunshine is still yellow when she returns to Bombay and stays with her grandparents until the day of her flight.
- Sunshine lives with her mom in Miami for a few months and then decides to drive to Phoenix, Arizona in October. Lonely in India, Mike flies to the US to come with her.
- October 1996 In a turquoise Saturn coupe, Sunshine and Mike drive from Miami to Phoenix, stopping in Talahasee, Biloxi, San Antonio, and El Paso before reaching the Valley of the Sun. Sunshine finds a 6-month temp job. Mike HATES Phoenix and wants to leave.
- April 1997 Sunshine and Mike go on an ambitious camping trip, driving from Phoenix to Vancouver, BC. All along the way they camp for free in the National Forest campgrounds. They buy a Golden Eagle Pass which gets them into all the National Parks
 like the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Glacier National Park, where they crossed the border into Alberta, Canada. They continued the camping trip through Western Canada; final destination: VANCOUVER, BC!
- July 1997 In Vancouver, Sunshine and Mike stay with good friend Roy in his apartment in the West End.
- November 1997 Sunshine and Mike drive to Southern California. Sunshine stays with good friend Richard Meyer, owner of Kundalini Traders. Mike returns to Vancouver on the train.
- April 1998 Sunshine leaves for Bali, Indonesia and Mike joins her in May. They live in Ubud and Kuta for a year. They rent the best house in the world behind Bendi's restaurant, in Ubud, and then live in a split-level one behind La Walon in Kuta.
 They become beach bums and lushes. They also travel around Thailand and Malaysia. They spend a total of four weeks in Penang, Malaysia where they relax in that most peaceful town. They spend several weeks in the stunning metropolis of Bangkok. They attend a huge Thai food festival in Chang Mai and eat everything, including fried bugs. They have loads of FUN. Sunshine even gets to cross the border into Myanmar. Sunshine and Mike relax on the beaches of Ko Chang and Ko Phan Gan. On New Year's Eve they party like it was 1999 (uh wait...it was) on the streets of Bangkok. Thailand, they realized, is the coolest place in the world.
- April 1999 Unfortunately for them, Sunshine and Mike return to North America.
- July 1999 Sunshine moves to Vancouver to be with Mike.
- September 2000 Sunshine and Mike get a real apartment together in the West End.
 They still live there. Sunshine is being held hostage by the evil Canadian government until they approve her residency application. Oh, they got married in January, 2001. That's a picture of the happy occasion.  Aren't they cute? They were so nervous and excited, they both cried at the wedding. It was funny, and pathetic.
Next on the list: El Camino del Santiago, Spain, and of course we always want to go back to Thailand.
